In January of 2015, Shannon Parker, Recreation Coordinator for the Modesto Senior Center requested assistance to purchase chairs for various senior programs offered by the senior center. Giving the limitations of the participants, the Senior Center needed to be able to have chairs available that are universal for programs ranging from the Young at Heart Exercise classes to Bingo and allow the participants support.
After months of research and coordination between the City of Modesto, the Modesto Senior Center and the Stanislaus Senior Foundation, the chairs arrived in May 2016. Through this collaboration 12 chairs were purchased. Now the participants of the Modesto Senior Center have quality equipment to use throughout the day.
“They are already enhancing the seniors quality of life,” Shannon Parker, shared with the Foundation. The acquisition of these chairs would never have been possible if it hadn’t been for the Stanislaus Senior Foundation.
