I  was born in Patterson CA and moved to Modesto at the age of 5. I have lived here ever since. I attended Washington Grammar School, Roosevelt Jr. High and graduated from Modesto High in 1953. At Modesto High I was elected first female Yell Leader. I graduated from San Jose School of Nursing and attended San Jose State. My first career was as an RN. I retired after 48 years. I was blessed with 5 children, all graduated from Modesto High. In 1972, I lead a campaign to have the canals around City Schools fenced. It has been my privilege to serve as District 5 Councilmember and the City of Modesto since 2013. Presently I am Vice Mayor. I have seen strides toward cooperation between the City and the County . There are still some pressing issues that need to be completed. Helping persons, experiencing homelessness, rebuilding he 7th Street Bridge, completion of SR-132 and Crows Landing Road reconstruction to name a few. I look forward to continue serving the constituents of this wonderful City.

Organizations I am affiliated with are numerous. American Legion Auxiliary, Stanislaus Commission on Aging, Stanislaus Senior Foundation, Democratic Women's Club, Lazarus Ministry, MOVE, and Catholic Professional and Business Club to name a few.

Awards: San Joaquin Valley Fall Policy Conference Award of Merit 2010, Latino Community Roundtable Latino of the Year 2013, California Transportation Foundation Transportation Awards Public Outreach Project of the Year Measure L Education Campaign 2017, Latino Emergency Council President's Award 2017 and Central Valley Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Community Champion 2019.
